About the workshop
In this energetic course you will be guided to develop your ideas from drawings and quick clay sketches, or make a study to produce a limestone sculpture. The subtractive process of carving is challenging, rewarding, and immediate. Learn to "see" the sculpture in the block and how to materialise it step by step whilst learning about the tools and methods of carving and developing your sculptural language.
There is now the option of a 1, 2, 3, or 4 day workshop. This is split over two weekends, a fortnight apart- therefore you would need to enrol for both Part 1 and Part 2 if you wish to take the 3 or 4 day options. We recommend a full block of limestone for the 3 or 4 day workshop, and a half block for the 1 or 2 day workshop, but the choice is yours!

About the teacher
Damien Lucas began his study of drawing with the late David Wilson in Bathurst in 1997. Wilson then introduced him to master sculptor Tom Bass, which lead to the full time study and practise of sculpture.
He also completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts at National Art School, Sydney, in 2004, and received the Defiance Award for Excellence in Sculpture for his large construction “Megaprosopous”. He was awarded the “Highly Commended” Prize for his limestone carving “Sanctum” in the Ingenuity Maquette Show, 2021.
He has shown work in both group & solo exhibitions throughout NSW & his commissions are situated publicly and privately in Longreach QLD, Cootamundra NSW, Mittagong NSW, Sunbury VIC , Orange NSW, Coffs Harbour NSW, and Coopers Shoot NSW.
Damien’s 24 years + experience of teaching is available directly to you and will guide you along your journey in the visual arts!

2 Days only: $195 + stone
3 Days only: $275 + stone

Your space in class is reserved once full payment has been received. If you cannot attend the course or forgot, unfortunately, your ticket is not refundable. But if you are aware you can't participate in the class, you are welcome to pass your ticket to someone else to take your place! Your spot is not transferrable after the event.
COVID - Our studio is always keeping up to date with Covid safety plans to put your safety first. We are doing our best to keep our small studio sustainable; that's why we are unable to offer refunds. However, if you are unable to attend class due to a Covid -related reason (Feeling unwell, lockdowns), we can give you credit to attend at a later date if we are given 4 days notice. This is to ensure we can pass your spot to someone else.
